Importing Requests for Next Year

Data specialists have the ability to import schedule request. Importing request can be a quick way of entering many requests at once. The process is simple, but it is very crucial that the information be correct. Incorrect information can result in double request, request not being imported, requests not showing up on the screens. There are 7 columns needed Student_Number, CourseNumber, YearID, SchoolID, GLOBALALTERNATECOURSE, REGISTREQ_ID, ALTERNATEGROUPCODE, and CREATIONCODE. Below is how each column is assigned. For several of the columns below, a report will have to be run in order to know the correct value. The report located here must be run in order to create a requests import:PowerSchool >PowerScheduler > Reports > Screen Info.To run the report enter the full Course number and select the grade level the students will be next year.

Student_Number The student number
CourseNumber The course Number
 YearID The year of the request

Example: Request for 12-13 you use the value 2200

 SchoolID Your school’s ID
 GLOBALALTERNATECOURSE Refer to the screen info screen before setting this value.

If the value of the Request Type is e, then put a 0 in this column.

If the value of the Request Type is a, then put a 1 in this column.

e=0 and a=1

 REGISTREQ_ID The value will be assigned according to the Screen Info Report.  First find the grade level they will be for the next year and the course number that is being requested, use the Screen ID column.
 ALTERNATEGROUPCODE The value will be assigned according to the information from the Screen Info Report, the Request Type column.

If the value of the Request Type is e, then put an e in this column.

If the value of the Request Type is not e, then leave this column blank.

e=E and anything else blank.

 CREATIONCODE Always put a 5 in this column.

Creationcode is a system value that must be set to 5.
