Send Conflicts to Counselors

The Data Specialists will generate a report of conflicts that can be sent to the counselors so that the counselors may follow-up with the students to adjust the following year’s schedule.

  1. On the left side, click PowerScheduler under Applications
  2. Click Reports under Tools
  3. First a Conflict Matrix will be exported and then Conflicting Students Lists can be run

(1) Generate a Conflict Matrix

  1. From the Scheduling Reports, click Conflict Matrix Export
  2. Use the following settings in the Conflcit Matrix Export
    1. Students to Include = All #### students in this school next year
    2. Output Form = Tab-Delimited
    3. Identify Course by = Course Numbers
    4. Include Courses = All Courses (for both Across Top and Along Side)
  3. Click the Submit button
  4. Open the resulting export in Excel.
  5. The number in the cells where a column and row intersect represent the number of conflicts for those two courses. (See the screenshot below.  In this example there are 9 student conflicts between AR2013 and AR2213)

(2) Run Conflicting Students Lists

  1. For each set of courses with conflicts run a Conflicing Students List
  2. From the Scheduling Reports screen, click Conflicting Students List
  3. Click the first Associate button to bring up a list of courses
  4. Click on the course that has conflicts and click the Submit button
  5. Repeat steps 3-4 for the second course in conflict
  6. After both courses have been selected click the Submit button
  7. This will generate a list of students with conflicts
  8. Copy the list of students from this page or use the Functions Menu to export the list
  9. Send the conflicting students to the counselors
