Collaboration Hour Attendance

Collaboration Hour is on block days in place of a student’s lunch period. In order to manage the attendance during Collaboration Hour, three different scanning options have been created: student QR scanning, admin scanning, and kiosk scanning.

QR Scanning

The GSD ios app has a feature to allow students to scan themselves into a room. QR codes can be printed from the gsd87.glenbard.org. An administrator can log into GSD87 website create any rooms, and print the corresponding QR Codes.

During Collaboration Hour, a student can enter a room and scan the QR code using the collaboration menu option in the GSD87 app. This information is immediately sent to PowerSchool.

Admin Scanning

Administrators can log into the GSD87 website and manually enter or scan students by hand. Once logged into the GSD87 website, a user can click Collaboration Scanning, choose a room, and begin entering students. Users can choose to use a properly set up scanner to enable fast scanning of IDs. The administrator can also manually type a name or ID to enter the student by hand.

Kiosk Mode

The final option is to set up an iPad in a kiosk mode to allow students to self-check in with a scanner. The option is in PowerSchool> Collaboration Hour> Scanning Setup. This is not the same as the check-in/out stations; Collaboration is fundamentally a different process. This method when properly paired with a scanner, will allow students to scan ID cards as they enter the space.
