Epson Projectors Troubleshooting

If you cannot show your screen on the projector, here are some troubleshooting tips that can help. You can also put in a ticket to tech, and we’ll be happy to come over and take a look!

  • Reseating the Adapter: If your screen is blue or not showing your computer screen, you can unplug the adapter (the one with the HDMI) and plug it back in. Plugging it into a different port will also help. Once you plug it back in, the screen should come back up quickly.
  • Selecting the Correct Input: All projectors should have an HDMI cord in the HDMI port 1. You’ll notice you can change inputs from the remote between HDMI 1, HDMI 2, and video. By clicking the HDMI button on the remote, you can switch it back to HDMI 1.
  • Mirror vs Extended: Everyone’s teaching styles are different. Some people enjoy having their screen mirrored, and others having their screen extended. You can go back and forth between these options by going into your System Settings -> Displays. Under the use as you can choose to “Mirror to EPSON PJ” (this will mirror your screen just as you see it or you can “Stop Mirroring” (this will make the projector act as a second monitor where you can drag things over to it while still keeping your desktop private and not seen by the projector).

Here are some other options you can change on the projector:

  • Choosing Volume Output (Projector vs Topcat): All computers are set up to go through the new TopCat Media System. If, for whatever reason, you’d like to change it to go through a different media source, such as the projector, you can do this in the System Settings. Simply click the Output tab, select which source you’d like to use, and ensure your volume is adjusted.
    • If you select the projector for the sound output, please know that the black box on your desk will no longer control the volume. Instead, you’ll need to use the Epson remote to change the volume. This is found on the bottom right of the remote, to the right of the E-Zoom.
  • Changing Display Type: The projector has different color modes that you can display. It is currently set to Dynamic for the most optimal viewing experience; however, if you’re watching a movie, or trying to show an example on the screen and think a better mode would benefit your instructional purposes, you can simply click the Color Mode button located on the bottom left of the remote (to the left of E-Zoom). You can choose Dynamic, Presentation, Cinema, sRGB, Blackboard, DICOM SIM, and Multi Projection.
  • Focus: If the projector looks out of focus, manually adjust it. The lever is on the underside of the projector under the lens.
