Objective: If a student is returning a book for a paid fine and does not have other fines, the entire return will either be refunded to the student or applied to other outstanding fees in Acorn if they exist.
- Check in the textbook that has been returned.
- When the textbook is checked-in, that books fine will zero out and the paid amount appear as a left over credit.
- Click the “Edit Fines” button from the student’s page.

- The amount of the available refund will appear in Follett. Write this amount down to request a refund from the Bookkeeper. This is the maximum refund that the Bookkeeper may issue.
- Click the “Update” button to record in Follett that the refund has been issued.

- Ask the bookkeeper to adjust the student’s Acorn account accordingly and issue a refund check if possible:
- To zero out the old fine.
- To issue a refund check for XX.XX dollars, from step 5, if the student has no other dollars due in Acorn. Note: If the student has other fees due in Acorn, the refund will be used against the remaining fees in Acorn instead of sending a refund check.
