When large amounts of data need to transferred into PowerSchool, Data Specialists use the importing process.<\/p>\n

The import process is\u00a0<\/span>irreversible<\/span>.\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Always try your import on the test server first before importing to Production.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

  1. Create a spreadsheet in excel of the info you want to import.\n
      \n
    1. Make sure you have the student number in the spreadsheet.<\/li>\n
    2. Make sure all column headings are correct<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n
    3. Save the spreadsheet as \u201cTab Delimited\u201d<\/li>\n
    4. Make sure all information is correct. If you import it and it is wrong the info will have to be corrected by hand<\/span>.<\/li>\n
    5. Click on Special Functions<\/strong> under Functions<\/strong> in the navigation menu.<\/li>\n
    6. Click on Importing & Exporting<\/strong> from the Special Functions menu<\/li>\n
    7. Click Quick Export<\/strong><\/li>\n
    8. On the Quick Export screen, choose the Table<\/strong> to import to (typically Students)<\/li>\n
    9. Click the Browse<\/strong> button to locate the file on your computer to be used in the import<\/li>\n
    10. Click on the Import<\/strong> button.<\/li>\n
    11. On the next screen, verify that all of the columns from your file (listed on the left) match a PowerSchool field (listed on the right).<\/li>\n
    12. Click the Exclude First<\/strong>Row<\/strong> checkbox<\/li>\n
    13. Click the Update the Student’s Record<\/strong> radio button unless you are only importing brand new students.<\/li>\n
    14. Click the Submit<\/strong> button.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
