Once a course has been activated at a school, the building’s Data Specialist can add sections for the school. A section represents each instance of a course being taught during a year. New sections are typically added to accommodate a high volume of student course requests.<\/p>\n

  1. Click on School<\/strong> under Setup<\/strong> from the navigation menu.<\/li>\n
  2. Click on Sections<\/strong> under the School Setup menu.<\/li>\n
  3. The navigation menu on the left side will change to a list of the school’s courses.\u00a0 Click on the course that you will be adjusting.<\/li>\n
  4. Make note of the highest number section ID used in this table.\u00a0 This number will be needed in step 6.<\/li>\n
  5. To create a new section, click on the New<\/strong> button at the top of the page.<\/li>\n
  6. You must fill in the following fields (highlighted in blue in the screenshot):\n

    1. Term – Both semester courses and year long courses need their term set to a single semester.\u00a0 Year long courses will have separate sections per semester.<\/li>\n
    2. Schedule – Select the period that the section will be held<\/li>\n
    3. Teacher<\/li>\n
    4. Room<\/li>\n
    5. Section Number – This number must be unique. Make it one number greater than the max ID found in step 4.<\/li>\n
    6. Maximum Enrollment<\/li>\n
    7. Close Section at Max – If selected, new students cannot be added to the section once it reaches the maximum enrollment<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n
    8. Click the Submit<\/strong> button.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
