{"id":488,"date":"2013-02-15T17:43:47","date_gmt":"2013-02-15T17:43:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/psws.glenbard.org\/index.php\/2013\/02\/15\/course-request-screens\/"},"modified":"2016-02-04T14:17:08","modified_gmt":"2016-02-04T20:17:08","slug":"course-request-screens","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/docs.glenbard.org\/index.php\/ps-2\/admin-ps\/scheduling\/course-request-screens\/","title":{"rendered":"Course Request Screens"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"nolwrap\"><p>Course request screens are the way for a counselor or other staff member to enter requests for a student. &amp;nbsp;These screens are a guide to help enter, limit the types of courses, and number of courses a grade level can request.<\/p>\n<p>The course request screens are controlled from PowerScheduler. \u00a0<span style=\"line-height: 1.3em;\">\u00a0For a step-by-step description, please go <a href=\"\/index.php\/ps-2\/admin-ps\/scheduling\/how-to-setup-up-a-request-screen\/\">here<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Log into PowerSchool<\/li>\n<li>Click PowerScheduler (if available)\n<ul>\n<li>Access to PowerScheduler is not available to all staff members.<\/li>\n<li>To gain access please request access from you APO<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Click on Screen setup<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>The next screen will be a list of grade levels on the left menu. \u00a0Each grade level has their own distinct screen. The grade level on the left side is the screen is the grade level a student will be going into next year.<\/p>\n<p>Once you click on a grade level you will see a screen like the one below. \u00a0On this screen you will be able to set whether a grade level can register for classes, edit existing requirements, delete exisiting requirements, and add additional requirements. \u00a0Also on this screen you can type a message to students (for online requesting) and set a max and min of the number of credits a student or staff member can submit.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/Requesting%20Setup.png\" data-rel=\"lightbox-image-0\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" size-full wp-image-486\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/Requesting%20Setup.png\" alt=\"Screen Setup\" width=\"697\" height=\"494\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>There are three types of requirement screens. Below is the table describing what and how a requirement screen could be used. \u00a0All three screens look similar.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/selectCourse-1.png\" data-rel=\"lightbox-image-1\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" size-full wp-image-487\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/selectCourse-1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/docs.glenbard.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/selectCourse-1.png 799w, https:\/\/docs.glenbard.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/selectCourse-1-300x240.png 300w, https:\/\/docs.glenbard.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/selectCourse-1-768x614.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<table>\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<th>Requirement Screen<\/th>\n<th>Description\/Use<\/th>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>Single Course Requirement<\/td>\n<td>\u00a0Use this option if student\/staff need to select a singe course, such as an elective, a singleton, AP\/Health\/Driver&#8217;s ed, etc<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>Multi-Course Requirement<\/td>\n<td>Use this option for year long courses or when more then one course can be selected, such as multiple electives, or PE<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>Core Requirement<\/td>\n<td>Use this option to automatically add all the coures in the the choosen course group. This is useful for requesting lunch or health. Students\/staff will not be able to uncheck these courses.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<h3 id=\"core-requirement\">Core Requirement<a name=\"core\"><\/a><\/h3>\n<table border=\"0\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<th>Field<\/th>\n<th>Description<\/th>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>Requirement Name<\/td>\n<td>Name of the requirement such as Math. \u00a0This will Title on the request screen<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>Description\/Instuctions<\/td>\n<td>Instructions for the staff\/students appears on the both the initial request<\/p>\n<p>screens and the requirement screen.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>List of valid courses for this item<\/td>\n<td>The course group that contains the possible coursed to request. \u00a0For more information on course groups go <a href=\"index.php?option=com_content&amp;view=article&amp;id=204:course-groups&amp;catid=15:scheduling&amp;Itemid=111\">here<\/a><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>Number of requests to generate per course<\/td>\n<td>This should always be one<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>Item sort order<\/td>\n<td>The order of the requirement screen appears on the request screen.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<h3 id=\"single-course-requirement\">Single Course Requirement<a name=\"singe\"><\/a><\/h3>\n<p>The single course requirement includes the <a href=\"#core\">core course fields<\/a> and the below additional fields<\/p>\n<table>\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<th>Field<\/th>\n<th>Description<\/th>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>Must student select a course from the pop-up or may they leave it blank<\/td>\n<td>If this requirement is manditory or not<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>essage to display if the student is required to select a course, but they leave it blank instead<\/td>\n<td>If the above field is set to &#8220;Must select one&#8221;,this message will appear if a course is not selected. \u00a0If left blank the following will appear &#8220;You did not select a course for this requirement: [requirement name]&#8221;<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>Request Type<\/td>\n<td>Elective: Not a requirement<\/p>\n<p>Alternate: Used if an elective request is not met.
