For example, all free or reduced lunch students. If you wanted to limit your results more than just applying one filter such as a list of preregisterd students vs a list of pregistered 9th graders.<\/p>\n<p>With advanced searching, you can add multiple student groups together, filters the current list of students, and even search by multiple fields to get very specific search results.<\/p>\n<h1 id=\"adding-multiple-student-groups-together-in-one-list\"><strong>Adding multiple student groups together in one list<\/strong><\/h1>\n<p>There are times when a list of students is needed but they are completely different, such as a list of students that are either free lunch <strong>OR<\/strong> reduced lunch. The key to adding mutliple groups together is the plus\u00a0sign (<strong>+<\/strong>). \u00a0The plus sign signifies that act of add to the existing list.<\/p>\n<p>If we wanted one student group in PowerSchool of all free lunch students (lunch_status=free) and all students reduced lunch students (lunch_status=reduced), we could get both of those groups as a single student selection using the following steps:<\/p>\n<p>Enter &#8220;lunch_status=free&#8221; into the search bar and click the search button<\/p>\n<p>When the results are returned, enter &#8220;+lunch_status=reduced&#8221; into the search bar and click the search button<\/p>\n<p>The resulting will be a list of students that are either free lunch or reduced lunch.<\/p>\n<h1 id=\"filtering-student-list\"><strong>Filtering Student List<\/strong><\/h1>\n<p>After a search is performed, it is possible to <strong>filter<\/strong> those results using the ampersand\u00a0sign (<strong>&amp;<\/strong>).<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"line-height: 1.3em;\">If we had all pre-registerd students (\/enroll_status=-1) and<\/span><span style=\"line-height: 1.3em;\">\u00a0wanted to filter the selection to only 9th graders (\/grade_level=9), we would us the ampersand sign.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"line-height: 1.3em;\">We would first search all pregeistered students \/enroll_status=-1<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"line-height: 1.3em;\">Once the results appear, we can filter the list to only contain just the 9th graders by searching for &#8220;&amp;\/grade_level=9&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"line-height: 1.3em;\"><strong>Important:<\/strong>\u00a0When using the\u00a0ampersand sign, there cannot be a\u00a0space between the\u00a0<strong>&amp;<\/strong>\u00a0and the actual search query.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"line-height: 1.3em;\">We now have a list of pregistered 9th graders.<\/span><\/p>\n<h1 id=\"search-for-students-that-match-multiple-fields\"><b>Search for students that match multiple fields<\/b><\/h1>\n<p>There may be times when a list of students based on more then one thing is needed. \u00a0For example, a search to get all 9th and 10th graders who are <strong>also<\/strong>\u00a0IEP students. \u00a0The key to searching by multiple fields is using a semi-colon (<strong>;<\/strong>).<\/p>\n<p>If we want all 9th and 10th graders (grade_level in 9,10)\u00a0who are also IEP students (IL_IEP=1)<\/p>\n<p>We would search grade_level in 9,10;IL_IEP=1<\/p>\n<p>Or if we want the opposite,\u00a09th and 10th graders\u00a0(grade_level in 9,10)\u00a0who are also not IEP students (IL_IEP#1)<\/p>\n<p>We would search\u00a0grade_level in 9,10;IL_IEP#1<\/p>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sometimes you may wish to search for multiple groups of [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[94],"tags":[201,124],"class_list":["post-133","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-powerschool-tips","tag-search","tag-searching"],"acf":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/docs.glenbard.org\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/133","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/docs.glenbard.org\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/docs.glenbard.org\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/docs.glenbard.org\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/docs.glenbard.org\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=133"}],"version-history":[{"count":3,"href":"https:\/\/docs.glenbard.org\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/133\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":1933,"href":"https:\/\/docs.glenbard.org\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/133\/revisions\/1933"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/docs.glenbard.org\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=133"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/docs.glenbard.org\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=133"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/docs.glenbard.org\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=133"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
