Do you have questions about how to take a PowerSchool export file and open it in Excel? Then this is for you.<\/p>\n

Mac OS X<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Safari<\/strong>
\nCurrently, Safari does not have the functionality to export information automatically from PowerSchool to Excel; however, use the following procedure to transfer information quickly from the browser to an Excel spreadsheet when you export information.<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Export information from PowerSchool using Quick Export, Export Using a Template, Direct Database Export, Direct Database Access<\/li>\n
  2. When the information appears in a new browser window, choose File > Save As<\/strong> and save the file on your desktop<\/li>\n
  3. Control-click or right-click<\/strong> the exported file (student.export.text) on your desktop<\/li>\n
  4. Click\u00a0Open With > Other<\/strong><\/li>\n
  5. In the Choose Application window, click the Enable<\/strong> menu, click All Applications<\/strong>, and select Microsoft Excel<\/strong><\/li>\n
  6. Click Open<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Firefox<\/strong><\/p>\n

    1. Use Quick Export to export data from PowerSchool<\/li>\n
    2. On your desktop, control-click or right-click<\/strong> the name of the exported file (student.export.text)<\/li>\n
    3. Click Open with > Other<\/strong><\/li>\n
    4. In the Choose Application window, click the Enable<\/strong> menu, and choose All Applications<\/strong><\/li>\n
    5. Click Microsoft Excel<\/strong><\/li>\n
    6. Select the check box for Do this automatically for files like this from now on<\/strong><\/li>\n
    7. Click Open<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      From now on, when Firefox asks if you want to open or save the file, you can choose Open, and the file will open in Excel.

      Windows<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

      Internet Explorer<\/strong><\/p>\n

      1. Export information from PowerSchool using Quick Export, Export Using a Template, Direct Database Export, Direct Database Access<\/li>\n
      2. Save the export file to your desktop<\/li>\n
      3. On your desktop, right-click<\/strong> the file (student.export.text)<\/li>\n
      4. Click Open With<\/strong>, and click Choose Program<\/strong><\/li>\n
      5. Find and click Microsoft Excel<\/strong><\/li>\n
      6. Select Always use the selected program to open this kind of file<\/strong><\/li>\n
      7. Click OK<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        From now on, when Internet Explorer asks if you want to open or save the file, you can choose Open, and the file will open in Excel<\/p>\n

        Firefox<\/strong><\/p>\n
